35 Rucksack Padded Insert (Olive)
35 Rucksack Padded Divider Set (Olive) 2x Large Vertical Dividers 1x Small Flap Divider
The flexible Padded Insert gives your equipment protection on all sides. Like the bag itself it is flexible front-to-back to allow it to fit slightly bigger gear than its dimensions suggest.
2x vertical dividers and 1x horizontal flap divider are included and can be attached anywhere inside with Velcro®.
The Padded Insert can be removed to turn the bag from a camera bag to a casual backpack in seconds with the unbuttoning of a pop-clip.
The main compartment opens with a double zip to help you get to your gear quickly. The leather trim around the zip helps to protect it from the rain.
Shown here with the padded insert removed.
An internal pocket behind the front flap provides space to put notepads, chocolate etc. While not designed to carry a tablet, an iPad with a screen size up to 11" will fit (you may want to add a slim case).
The pocket on the front of the 35 Rucksack is great to store tissues, lens wipes, phone and batteries.
It too closes with a double zip. Furthermore it is protected by its own top flap that closes with our bespoke clogball brass fastening for extra security.
The ergonomically designed shoulder straps are lined with spacer fabric to promote breathability as well as having brass loops so the straps can be easily adjusted for length to suit the wearer.
In between the straps at the top of the bag is a small loop to hang the bag from.
The particularly discrete styling of the 35 Rucksack means that it doesn't look like a camera bag at all, ideal for travelling without drawing attention.
Want to carry a tripod too? The 35 Rucksack features brass loops under the front pocket that can attach leather 5/8 tripod straps.

Almost any TLR camera with room to spare.

Which is bigger? The '25 Rucksack' or the '35 Rucksack'?
The 25 Rucksack is larger.
Can you fit a laptop or tablet in this bag?
You can fit a 9.7", 10.2", 10.5" or 11" inch iPad in the pocket on the back of the main flap.
The bag wasn't designed to hold a laptop. However a 12.9" iPad Pro, MacBook Pro 13" (4th Gen - late 2016 onwards), MacBook Air 11" or MacBook Air 13" (3rd Gen - late 2018 onwards) will fit between the front of the padded insert and the main flap. They aren't very well protected in this position but a thin slipcase that didn't add too much to the length or width could help protect the device (the ones we make would not be suitable for this as they are too large).
It would not be possible to fit a 15 inch laptop in this bag at all.
The laptops and tablets can't be laid flat against your back in the bag as the pop-clips holding the insert in place would get in the way.
Which tripod straps fit on this bag?
The 5/8 Tripod Straps can be attached to this bag (using the brass 'D-rings' under the front pocket. We'd advise only attaching tripods that are small and light to avoid damage to the bag - or extra weight on your shoulders!
Does this bag need re-proofing to keep it waterproof?
No. The fabric is made of 3 layers - the middle layer is butyl rubber. Water cannot pass through this butyl rubber layer. As long as you don't get a hole in the fabric or expose it to harsh chemicals (for example in a washing machine) the fabric should remain waterproof for many years. There is no need to apply re-proofing.
What is the difference between 'Canvas' and 'FibreNyte'?
In simple terms ‘Canvas’ or ‘FibreNyte’ refers to top layer of fabric on our bags – the facecloth.
‘Canvas’ is a mix of cotton and polyester. ‘FibreNyte’ refers to our face fabric that is completely synthetic. Canvas is hard wearing, FibreNyte is very hard wearing.
Both fabrics are bonded to a non-wicking polyester backing fabric with a middle layer butyl rubber – this rubber layer makes both fabrics equally (and very) waterproof. Water can’t get through that rubber layer.
Both fabrics have a similar weave - the FibreNyte looks similar to canvas. Canvas is slightly softer to the touch, FibreNyte is slightly rougher to the touch.
People tend to choose Canvas if they want the bag to age gracefully and look vintage over time. This is particularly true of people who choose our ‘Khaki Canvas’ fabric as this looks particularly lovely as it ages.
People tend to choose FibreNyte if they want the bag to look newer for longer or if they are particularly hard on their gear - for example by carrying the bag to work with them every day, doing a lot of hiking or filling it particularly full. If you are buying a black bag it’s particularly worth considering FibreNyte as it will stay looking blacker longer. Also Sage FibreNyte is particularly attractive as a colour – it’s probably the most popular colour among our staff!
