This figure has been included in the total weight of the bag listed above.

14" MacBook Pro, 13" MacBook Pro or MacBook Air in the padded laptop slip in the back of the padded insert.

Most DSLRs with a small-to-medium lens attached (without battery grip - e.g. Canon 5D, Nikon D850). Plus 2 to 4 lenses (tall enough for a 70-200mm not attached to the camera).

Almost any mirrorless camera (e.g. Fujifilm XT-4, Sony A7IV, Canon R6, Nikon Z7) with small to medium lens attached. Plus 2-4 lenses - including a 70-200mm maybe attached to camera depending on length).

2 or 3 rangefinder cameras (e.g. Leica M11) with almost any lens attached. With room left for extra lenses.

Some medium format cameras such as the Hasselblad 500CM with 80mm attached, Fujifilm GFX-100S with small to medium lens attached, Hasselblad H6D with small lens attached etc. Plus room for extra lenses.

Small foldable drones such as Mavid Air 2 or Mavic Mini 2 with space to spare.

  • The Mini Eventer is smaller than the Eventer MKII. The extra size of the Eventer MKII allows a 14” MacBook Pro to be stored instead of a 11” iPad Pro – plus larger camera gear.
  • The Mini Eventer has unstitched, two single front straps, whereas the Eventer MKII has two stitched, double front straps. The dual front straps are due to the size of the bag and to enable you to release the main flap whilst keeping the front dump pockets secure.
  • The Eventer MKII comes with a full width, padded insert as standard. The Hadley One comes with a half width padded insert (a full width padded insert can be purchased as an optional extra).
  • The Eventer MKII comes with an SP50 Shoulder Pad. The Hadley One doesn’t include a Shoulder Pad, this has to be purchased as an optional extra.
  • The Eventer MKII comes with dual, stitched front straps that let you separately open the top flap while keeping the front pockets closed. The Hadley One comes with single, unstitched front straps that only open and close the top flap as the front pockets are closed with press studs.
  • The Eventer MKII doesn’t have a ‘Billingham’ leather logo patch. The Hadley One does have a leather logo sewn onto the top flap. Both bags have a fabric Billingham tag sewn into the outside of the seam.
  • The main compartment on the Eventer MKII is zipped. The Hadley One doesn’t have a zip on the main compartment, therefore when opening the bag the Hadley One will be slightly quicker to get into.
  • The padded insert for the Hadley One has a padded lid. The padded insert for the Eventer MKII does not have a padded lid.
  • The Hadley One can have End Pockets attached, the Eventer MKII can’t.
  • The Hadley One has a removable shoulder sling, the Eventer MKII has a fixed shoulder sling. The slings on both bags are adjustable in length.
  • Externally, the Hadley One is fractionally wider and deeper (front to back). The Eventer MKII is slightly taller. Internally, the Eventer MKII is bigger however the Hadley One has more ability to bow out.
  • Hadley One laptop slip is sewn into the bag, so even when you remove the padded insert the laptop slip remains. In the Eventer MKII when you remove the padded insert, you also remove the padded laptop slip.

Unfortunately, 15” and 16” laptops don’t fit in the padded laptop slip compartment. The maximum it will hold is a 14” laptop.

If you take the padded compartment out, a 15” or 16” MacBook may fit, but you probably won’t have space for a laptop sleeve. For this reason, we do not recommend putting a 15” or 16” laptop in the bag like this, as your device will have very minimal protection and will create points of high friction to the bag that could cause wear. Wear is not covered under five-year manufacturers guarantee.

No, both bags are the same size. Over the years laptops have become smaller relative to their screen size, for example the 2021 14” MacBook Pro is almost identical in size to the 2012 13” MacBook Pro. Therefore, we now feel confident describing the bag to be capable of holding a 14” laptop – older 14” laptops or workstation-class machines (for CAD work etc) might be slightly too big so discretion is advised. If in doubt please contact us with the dimensions of your device.

The Eventer MKII has:

  • An improved top handle with leather underneath to make carrying the bag more comfortable.
  • An improved top flap with the line of webbing along the top removed for a cleaner aesthetic.
  • Weatherproof zips instead of normal zips.
  • An improved padded insert with deeper padding on the base.
  • A luggage trolley retainer strap on the back for attaching to the handle on a trolley suitcase.

You do not need to use the buckles every time you open the bag. The buckles are designed for occasional fine tuning only, to allow for a tighter or looser fit on the main compartment.

To get into the bag, simply use the quick release system front straps. Slide the straps up and off the brass clogballs to open the bag.

Yes! The Eventer MKII and the Mini Eventer have the ‘TukTop’ design, which allows the material on either side of the main zip to tuck behind the padded insert. This eliminates the danger of scratching any camera gear when dipping in and out of the bag.

No, you will never need to re-proof our bags. Both our ‘Canvas’ and ‘FibreNyte’ materials are made up of three layers; the middle layer being a rubber butyl layer that should outlive the bag. This rubber butyl layer makes the bag waterproof.

In simple terms ‘Canvas’ or ‘FibreNyte’ refers to top layer of fabric on our bags – the facecloth.

‘Canvas’ is a mix of cotton and polyester. ‘FibreNyte’ refers to our face fabric that is completely synthetic. Canvas is hard wearing, FibreNyte is very hard wearing.

Both fabrics are bonded to a non-wicking polyester backing fabric with a middle layer butyl rubber – this rubber layer makes both fabrics equally (and very) waterproof. Water can’t get through that rubber layer.

Both fabrics have a similar weave - the FibreNyte looks similar to canvas. Canvas is slightly softer to the touch, FibreNyte is slightly rougher to the touch.

People tend to choose Canvas if they want the bag to age gracefully and look vintage over time. This is particularly true of people who choose our ‘Khaki Canvas’ fabric as this looks particularly lovely as it ages.

People tend to choose FibreNyte if they want the bag to look newer for longer or if they are particularly hard on their gear - for example by carrying the bag to work with them every day, doing a lot of hiking or filling it particularly full. If you are buying a black bag it’s particularly worth considering FibreNyte as it will stay looking blacker longer. Also Sage FibreNyte is particularly attractive as a colour – it’s probably the most popular colour among our staff!

The 'SP50 Shoulder Pad' fits this bag - it is already included in the price of the bag so you only need to buy it if you have lost or damaged yours.

The 'SP20 Shoulder Pad' can also fit if needed but isn't included (Tan or Black Leather only).

Yes! There are four press studs inside the bag that the insert easily attaches/detaches to. The removable, padded insert is included when you purchase this bag.

The insert attaches/detaches easily to four press studs inside the bag.

The side patches on the ‘Eventer MKII’ are sewn flat to the bag to help bear the weight of the bag and support the shoulder sling. Therefore, no end pockets can be attached.
