"A Billingham Hadley bag has been my camera bag for 30 years - it’s a massive honour to have been able to put my own twist on this classic”
Greg Williams

We are pleased to announce our collaboration with photographer Greg Williams to create two special edition camera bags. For the designs we took the existing 'Hadley Small Pro' and 'Hadley Pro 2020' bags and added Greg's twist on them based on his suggestions as a renowned photographer.

Firstly the GWP bags feature an extra black lining sewn in to the main compartment, front pockets and back pocket. This matched Greg's visual preferences and means that the olive backing to the canvas and back of the press studs in the front pockets can no longer be seen. The normally olive coloured removable padded insert and dividers have also been made black.

Furthermore the nickel coated brass fixings that would normally feature on an all black bag have been replaced with fixings that show off their full brass colouring.

Finally the bag includes an SP40 padded shoulder pad (in the standard bags this is a chargeable extra). Of course this too features brass coloured fixings.

Both bags have all the same features as the standard 'Hadley Small Pro' and 'Hadley Pro 2020' such as a removable shoulder sling, leather under the top handle for added comfort and luggage trolley retainer strap on the back.

Also retained is the 'Quick Release System' front straps to help you get in and out of the bag quickly. To gain access simply slide the top of the leather straps off the brass ‘Clogballs’. As the leather softens and with practice, you should soon be able to open the bag one-handed. The buckles aren’t needed to gain access to the bag, they need be used only to occasionally fine-tune the tension between the main flap and front pockets (depending on what you are carrying in those pockets). This type of quick access should help you too capture those candid moments on which Greg has built his distinguished career.

The two GWP bags differ from each other only in size. The 'Hadley Small Pro' is ideal for cameras such as Greg's Leica Q2, a Leica M or mirrorless camera with 2-3 small-to-medium lenses. The 'Hadley Pro 2020' has more space allowing for cameras such as the Leica SL2 or a DSLR (without battery grip) with 2-4 small-to-medium lenses.

As always these bags are made at our factory in England, feature genuine top-grain leather, 3-layer waterproof canvas that never needs reproofing and are covered by our 5-year manufacturer's guarantee.

External Dimensions

W330mm (13") x D140mm (5½”) x H210mm (8¼”) (excluding top handle)

W330mm (13") x D140mm (5½”) x H250mm (10¼”) (including top handle)

Please note the extra width (W) of the bag compared to the Hadley Small is just the leather fixings for the removable shoulder sling - the internal capacity (below) is the same.

Internal Dimensions (Main compartment)
W260mm (10¼”) x D80mm (3⅛”) x H190mm (7½”)

Please note this bag and its padded insert are flexible - especially front to back. It's one of the best things about the bag! Therefore it can fit items slightly larger than the dimensions suggest - inside it could comfortably bow out to a 'D' measurement of 100mm at the bottom and 120mm at the top (at the centre) for example, at a stretch it can go out to 140mm (5½").

The top flap of the insert is also flexible so you can put in items slightly taller if you need to.

The Hadley Small Pro main compartment is identical in size to the Hadley Small main compartment.

3.50 litres (0.12 feet³)

Weight

The extra weight compared to the normal 'Hadley Small Pro' is due to the extra panels of fabric used to create the fabric linings to the pockets.

What is the difference between these bags and the standard 'Hadley Small Pro' and 'Hadley Pro 2020' camera bags?
These bags have the following differences:

  • The bags have an additional black polyester lining sewn into the front pockets, main compartment and rear pocket. This covers up what would be an olive coloured lining and the back of the press studs in the front pockets.
  • The metal fixings are not coated in nickel like they typically would be in black canvas / black leather bags. Therefore the metal fixings are brass coloured instead of silver coloured.
  • The removable padded insert in black coloured instead of the olive colour typical in our other black canvas / black leather bags.

They are the same size and have the same features as their namesakes.

Do the buckles make the bag slow to get into?
No! Hadley front straps are opened by sliding the top of the strap off the brass clogball (round stud). This is a very quick way to open and close the bag - many people learn to do this one-handed as the leather softens.

The buckle is only used very occasionally to adjust the fit of the bag. We'd recommend keeping the strap in the buckle during normal use - this keeps the straps securely attached to the bag.

You can keep the bag itself open while shooting - just don't put the straps back on the clogball until you want to close bag.

Can either of these bags fit a 13" or 14" MacBook Pro?
The Hadley Small Pro size will definitely NOT fit a 13" MacBook Pro.

The Hadley Pro 2020 size would fit one of these devices have to go between the padded insert and the outside of the bag - so it wouldn't be very well protected. Many customers do use this bag this way however (and the previous Hadley Pro) and none have reported damage to their device.

Please note that the devices can push out the corners of the bag which might cause premature wear.

The Hadley One has a dedicated, padded laptop slip big enough for a 13 or 14 inch MacBook Pro. So if you need to carry a 13 inch laptop (or 14 inch MacBook Pro) that might be a better option for you.

Can either of these bags fit an iPad?
Yes - you can fit one in the back of the bag between the padded insert and the outside of the bag. Of course in this position it won't be padded - however no one has reported damage to their device from placing it here.

If you want you could put the iPad in a small, slim case (please note our old sizes of tablet slip won't fit in the Hadley Small Pro).

The 'Hadley Small Pro' size will fit a 9.7, 10.2 or 10.5 inch iPad.

The 'Hadley Pro 2020' size will fit a 9.7, 10.2, 10.5, 11 or 12.9inch iPad.

Please bear in mind storing an iPad in the back of the bag might contribute to wear on the bag.

The front to back internal measurement is only 80mm on both bags but you say they will fit cameras larger than this? How does that work?
Both bags are very flexible! They can both easily expand to about 100mm front-to-back in their bases.

Further up the bag the the 'Hadley Small Pro' size can comfortably bow out to a front-to-back 120mm at the top (at the centre), at a stretch it can go out to 140mm (5½").

The 'Hadley Pro 2020' size will comfortably bow out to a front-to-back measurement of 120mm (4¾") at the top (at the centre), at a stretch it can go out to 160mm (6⅜").

This easily covers most DSLRs inserted lens-down so long as you haven't attached a battery grip.

The Canon 1DX, Nikon D5 or any DSLR (the ones with mirrors in) with a battery grip attached will be a struggle to fit in lens down - for those we would probably recommend something like a Hadley One (with the optional full size insert, a Hadley Large Pro or our 5-series and 7-series bags such as 207335 etc.
