The newest addition to our camera bag range. Perfect for small-medium sized DSLRs or mirrorless cameras with a dedicated padded area for up to 11” tablets. Features weatherproof zips, a luggage trolley retainer strap and rear document pocket. Includes an SP50 Shoulder Pad, and removable padded insert with divider set. Made in England with three-layer waterproof fabric and real, top-grain leather.

This is What's Included

Removable, padded insert

Removable, padded insert

The Mini Eventer includes a removable, padded insert that enables you to turn the bag from a camera bag to a messenger bag in seconds.

The flexible padded insert is made from dense, fabric covered 'closed cell' foam and provides impact protection on the front, back, base and sides. Like the bag itself, the insert is a little flexible.

Also included are two large vertical padded dividers and two smaller 'flap' dividers. You can use the vertical dividers to split the bag into columns and the flap dividers to stack gear within those columns. The exact arrangement that is possible for you will depend on the size of your gear.

Leather on the bottom of the bag

Leather on the bottom of the bag

The top-grain leather covering the base and bottom  of the front and back walls increases longevity, as well as creating a luxurious look and feel.

Back pocket with weatherproof zip

Keep important documents safe and on-hand in this back pocket with a weatherproof zip to protect paper from the elements.

Dedicated tablet slip

Dedicated tablet slip

Sewn into the back of the padded insert is a dedicated padded tablet slip, designed to fit an iPad up to 11".

Dual, weatherproof zip

Dual, weatherproof zip

The main compartment has a dual, weatherproof zip, maintaining protection from the weather even when the main flap isn't over the bag.

The dual zips allow you to access only part of the bag if you don't want to open all of the main compartment up.

Luggage trolley strap

Luggage trolley strap

A handy, practical feature that allows you to secure your bag to your luggage when travelling through a busy airport or city.

The luggage trolley retainer strap is just below the opening to the back pocket.

The zips to the main compartment can be tucked behind the front and back walls of the padded insert - allowing you to easily dip in and out of your bag without the zip in the way.

Quick release front straps

Quick release front straps

Quickly open and close your bag using the quick release front straps by simply pushing the front straps up and off the clogballs.

Once the leather softens, you should be able to open the bag one-handed whilst wearing the bag!

The buckles allow you to fine tune the 'fit' of the front pockets. You don't need to use the buckles to open the bag.

Leather under top handle

Leather under top handle

An easy carry top handle is reinforced with fibreglass and has leather on the underside to provide extra comfort when carrying the bag using just the top handle.

Mini Eventer vs Eventer MKII

Mini Eventer vs Eventer MKII

There are only two differences between the Mini Eventer and Eventer MKII:

  • The size: Mini Eventer is smaller, Eventer MKII is larger. The extra size allows a 14" MacBook Pro to be stored instead of an 11" iPad Pro, plus larger camera gear.
  • Front straps: Mini Eventer has single, unstitched front straps and the Eventer MKII has dual, stitched front straps.

This figure has been included in the total weight of the bag listed above.

Inside padded laptop compartment: Most small-to-medium sized computer tablets. For example iPad Minis, 9.7", 10.2", 10.5", 10.9" and 11" iPads, Samsung Galaxy Tab A8s (10.5") or Microsoft Surface Go Devices (10.5" Gen 1, 2 & 3).

Almost any mirrorless camera without a battery grip (e.g. Nikon Z7 II, Canon R6 MK II, Sony A7 V, Sony α6700, Fujifilm X-T4, Fujifilm X-H2S etc) with a small-to-medium lens attached. Plus 2-3 lenses.

Please note cameras with a built-in grip like the Nikon Z8 and Canon R3 will be too large to fit with a lens attached.

Most DSLRs without a battery grip (e.g. Canon 5D MkIV, Nikon D850, Pentax K1 II) with a small-to-medium lens attached. Plus 2-3 lenses.

Please note cameras with a built-in grip like the Nikon D6 and Canon 1DX MK III will be too large to fit with a lens attached.

Virtually any rangefinder style camera such as Leica M11, Leica M6, Fujifilm X-Pro 3 etc with several lenses.

2-3 small fixed lens cameras such as Leica Q3, Sony RX100 VII and Fujifilm X100V.

Small foldable drones such as the DJI Mini 3 Pro, DJI Air 2S and DJI Avata.

  • The Mini Eventer is smaller than the Eventer MKII. The extra size of the Eventer MKII allows a 14” MacBook Pro to be stored instead of a 11” iPad Pro – plus larger camera gear.
  • The Mini Eventer has unstitched, two single front straps, whereas the Eventer MKII has two stitched, double front straps. The dual front straps are due to the size of the bag and to enable you to release the main flap whilst keeping the front dump pockets secure.
  • The Mini Eventer is a little bigger than the Hadley Small Pro.
  • The Mini Eventer has a Shoulder Pad included whereas you have to purchase a Shoulder Pad in addition to the Hadley Small Pro.
  • The main compartment of the Mini Eventer closes with a zip and a main flap. The main compartment on the Hadley Small Pro closes with only a main flap.
  • The Hadley Small Pro has a removable shoulder sling, whereas the Mini Eventer shoulder sling is not removable.
  • You can add AVEA 7 End Pockets to the Hadley Small Pro for extra storage, whereas the Mini Eventer does not have the ability to attach any End Pockets.
  • The Hadley Small Pro is slightly more flexible and will mould to your body a little more than the Mini Eventer.
  • The Hadley Small Pro can bow out to fit larger gear if needed. The Mini Eventer is slightly deeper front-to-back but has less ability to expand out further than what is stated on its internal size.
  • The Mini Eventer has a dedicated, padded tablet area whereas the Hadley Small Pro does NOT have this, therefore to store a tablet you have to put it between the back of the padded camera insert and the back of the bag which means your device will only be padded on one side.
  • Both bags have a top handle with leather underneath for additional comfort when carrying the bag using this top handle.
  • Both bags have weatherproof zips on the rear of the bag, however the Mini Eventer additionally has a weatherproof zip on the main compartment.
  • Both bags have a luggage trolley retainer strap on the back.
  • The Mini Eventer is a little smaller than the Hadley Pro 2020.
  • The Mini Eventer has a Shoulder Pad included whereas you have to purchase a Shoulder Pad in addition to the Hadley Pro 2020.
  • The main compartment of the Mini Eventer closes with a zip and a main flap. The main compartment on the Hadley Pro 2020 closes with only a main flap.
  • The Hadley Pro 2020 has a removable shoulder sling, whereas the Mini Eventer shoulder sling is not removable.
  • You can add AVEA End Pockets to the Hadley Pro 2020 for extra storage, however the Mini Eventer does not have the ability to add End Pockets.
  • The Hadley Pro 2020 is slightly more flexible and will mould to your body a little more than the Mini Eventer.
  • The Hadley Pro 2020 can bow out to fit larger gear if needed. When comparing the measurements, the Hadley Pro 2020 and Mini Eventer have the same depth front-to-back, however the Hadley Pro 2020 allows a little more expansion on depth than the Mini Eventer.
  • The Mini Eventer has a dedicated, padded tablet area whereas the Hadley Pro 2020 does NOT have this, therefore to store a tablet you have to put it between the back of the padded camera insert and the back of the bag which means your device will only be padded on one side.

Yes these devices would fit in the padded tablet compartment instead of an 11inch iPad very easily.

No. There isn't even a way to squeeze one in. If you want to fit a 13" MacBook we would recommend the Eventer MKII or the Hadley One both of which have dedicated padded 13" laptop compartments.

No, you do not need to use the buckles to get into this bag. The buckles are only designed to occasionally adjust the front straps in height or to allow you to pack a little more or less into the bag. We recommend keeping the straps inside the buckle during normal use and only using the 'Quick Release Straps'.

For frequent use, the Mini Eventer Front Straps are opened by sliding the top of the strap off the brass clogball (round stud). This is a very quick way to open and close the bag, many people learn to do this one-handed as the leather softens.

You can keep the bag itself open whilst shooting, just don't put the straps back on the clogball until you want to close bag.

Yes. The Mini Eventer has the 'TukTop' feature which allows the zips to be safely tucked behind the front and back walls of the padded insert when the bag is in use. This allows you to easily dip in and out of the bag frequently without the zips interfering and without needing to keep zipping the bag up.

No. The fabric is made of 3 layers that are bonded together consisting of: an outer material of Canvas or FibreNyte, a middle layer of butyl rubber and an internal lining. The middle layer of butyl rubber ensures that water cannot pass through. As long as you don't get a hole in the fabric or expose it to harsh chemicals (for example in a washing machine) the fabric should remain waterproof for the bags lifetime and should not need re-proofing.

This remains the same regardless of if you choose a Canvas or FibreNyte bag.

In simple terms ‘Canvas’ or ‘FibreNyte’ refers to top layer of fabric on our bags – the facecloth.

‘Canvas’ is a mix of cotton and polyester. ‘FibreNyte’ refers to our face fabric that is completely synthetic. Canvas is hard wearing, FibreNyte is very hard wearing.

Both fabrics are bonded to a non-wicking polyester backing fabric with a middle layer butyl rubber. It is this butyl rubber layer that makes both fabrics equally (and very) waterproof. Water can’t get through that rubber layer.

Both fabrics have a similar weave. FibreNyte looks similar to canvas. Canvas is slightly softer to the touch, FibreNyte is slightly rougher to the touch.

Canvas is usually selected if you would prefer the bag to age gracefully and have a 'vintage' look over time. This is especially true of people who choose our ‘Khaki Canvas’ fabric, as this looks particularly lovely as it ages.

We recommend FibreNyte for those that want their bag to look newer for longer or if you are particularly hard on your gear - for example doing a lot of hiking, packing the bag full and using daily. If you are buying a black bag it is particularly worth considering, as FibreNyte is more colour-fast so will keep its colour for longer.

The SP50 shoulder pad fits this bag - it is already included in the price so you only need to buy it if you have lost or damaged yours. The SP20 shoulder pad can also fit the Mini Eventer if needed, but isn't included.

Yes this bag comes with a removable padded insert included in the price. You can take the padded insert out if not carrying cameras - this turns the bag into a great casual bag.

It attaches with pop-clips on the front and back of the insert. These match up to clips on the front and back inside walls of the main compartment of the bag.

No. End pockets can not be attached to this bag.
