Hadley Small Padded Insert with Divider Set (Olive) 1x Padded Insert, 2x Large (Vertical) Dividers, 2x Small (Flap)
Hadley Front Straps (Tan) Pair
The flexible, padded insert is made of dense, fabric covered, 'closed-cell' foam. Protection is provided on all six sides - including the lid. Like the bag itself, the insert is flexible front-to-back and can therefore fit slightly bigger gear than its dimensions suggest.
2x vertical dividers and 2x horizontal flap dividers are included and can be attached anywhere inside with Velcro®.
The Padded Insert is also removable, giving you the ability to turn the Hadley Small from a camera bag to a casual, messenger bag in seconds.
The 'Quick Release System' leather front straps allow you to quickly and easily open the bag. Simply pull the straps up-and-off the brass clogballs to release.
The front straps are made of real, top-grain leather that are tightened when the bag is first made to help with the longevity of the leather. Over time, the leather will soften and with a little practice you will be able to open the bag one-handed, whilst wearing it.
The buckles are only for occasional fine tuning the fit of the main flap on the bag, you do not need to use the buckles every time you open your bag.
The space between the padded insert and the back of the bag naturally creates a thin extra pocket that will fit an 11" iPad.
Please note, this section is only padded on one side so you may wish to use a slim case.
The front dump pockets are perfect for cables, film, spare batteries and little bits and bobs that you would like to keep separate, whilst providing great extra storage space at the same time.
On the top, outside corner of each pocket is a press stud. Release this to expand the space available, or keep it closed to form a perfect place to clip pens, pencils etc.
The particularly discrete styling of the bag means that it doesn't look like a camera bag at all, which is ideal for travelling without drawing attention.
As a slim bag it's naturally flexible and moulds to your body, helping you weave through crowds.
The top flap has been sculpted to help prevent rain, snow or unwanted hands getting into the main compartment.
The flap is made of the same 3-layer waterproof fabric as the rest of the bag.
The shoulder sling is made of strong, woven polyester and is adjustable in length to suit your height and shooting style.
The shoulder sling is compatible with the SP15 and SP40 (recommended) Shoulder Pads. A Shoulder Pad is available as an optional extra.
The Hadley Small and Hadley Small Pro have the same dimensions internally and can therefore carry exactly the same gear.
The difference between the two camera bags is that the Hadley Small Pro has the following extra features:

What are the main differences between this and the Hadley Small Pro?
The Hadley Small Pro features:
The Hadley Small does NOT have these features.
PLEASE NOTE: The internal capacity of the Hadley Small and the Hadley Small Pro is the same - they can carry the same amount of gear (of course with the Hadley Small Pro you can store extra in AVEA 7 pockets).
Can this bag fit a Canon 5D, 6D, 7D or a Nikon D850 with lens attached?
Yes it can so long as the lens isn't too long - most people would put it in with the lens facing down. Next to the camera you'll even fit a second lens.
It will push the front of the bag out a little but this won't cause a problem (the bag was designed to be able to do this). You won't be able to use a battery grip.
Can this bag fit a Leica M camera?
Yes it can, indeed you should fit 2 of them (with lenses attached) with ease.
Can this bag fit a 9.7, 10.2 or 10.5 inch iPad?
Yes - you can fit it in the back of the bag between the padded insert and the outside of the bag. Of course in this position it won't be padded - however no one has reported damage to their device from placing it here.
If you want you could put the iPad in a small, slim case (a big case, even the one made by us, won't fit).
Also bear in mind that it may push slightly at the edges of the bag - so choosing a FibreNyte version of the bag would be sensible to reduce the risk of wear.
Do the buckles make the bag slow to get into?
You do not need to use the buckles to open the bag, they are for occasional tweaking only. The buckles allow you to control how much the bag can flex and carry. The 'Quick Release System' front straps are the correct way to open the bag.
The Front Straps are opened by sliding the top of the strap up and off the brass Clogball (round stud) that is attached to the main flap. This is a very quick way to open and close the bag and many people learn to do this one-handed as the leather softens.
We recommend keeping the strap inside the buckle during normal use as this keeps the straps securely attached to the bag and prevents the chances of losing your straps.
Does this bag need re-proofing to keep it waterproof?
No. The fabric is made of 3 layers - the middle layer is butyl rubber. Water cannot pass through this butyl rubber layer. As long as you don't get a hole in the fabric or expose it to harsh chemicals (for example in a washing machine) the fabric should remain waterproof for many years. There is no need to apply re-proofing.
What is the difference between 'Canvas' and 'FibreNyte'?
In simple terms ‘Canvas’ or ‘FibreNyte’ refers to top layer of fabric on our bags – the facecloth.
‘Canvas’ is a mix of cotton and polyester. ‘FibreNyte’ refers to our face fabric that is completely synthetic. Canvas is hard wearing, FibreNyte is very hard wearing.
Both fabrics are bonded to a non-wicking polyester backing fabric with a middle layer butyl rubber – this rubber layer makes both fabrics equally (and very) waterproof. Water can’t get through that rubber layer.
Both fabrics have a similar weave - the FibreNyte looks similar to canvas. Canvas is slightly softer to the touch, FibreNyte is slightly rougher to the touch.
People tend to choose Canvas if they want the bag to age gracefully and look vintage over time. This is particularly true of people who choose our ‘Khaki Canvas’ fabric as this looks particularly lovely as it ages.
People tend to choose FibreNyte if they want the bag to look newer for longer or if they are particularly hard on their gear - for example by carrying the bag to work with them every day, doing a lot of hiking or filling it particularly full. If you are buying a black bag it’s particularly worth considering FibreNyte as it will stay looking blacker longer. Also Sage FibreNyte is particularly attractive as a colour – it’s probably the most popular colour among our staff!
Which shoulder pad fits this bag?
The 'SP15' and 'SP40' sizes both fit this bag. The 'SP15' has more grip whereas the 'SP40' has more padding. For most customers we recommend the SP40 shoulder pad.
Remember to select the correct colour for your bag!
Do I need a shoulder pad for this bag?
The shoulder pad isn't essential but can stop the strap from digging into your shoulder if you are carrying heavy equipment inside the bag or carrying it for long periods. It can also reduce the chances of the bag slipping off your shoulder if you don't wear it across the body. Remember only the 'SP15' and 'SP40' sizes fit this bag. Buying it with the bag will save the postage cost of buying it separately later.
Does this bag have a removable padded insert?
Yes this bag comes with a removable padded insert included in the price. You can take the padded insert out if not carrying cameras - this turns the bag into a great casual bag.
Can end pockets be attached to this bag?
No. However AVEA 7 pockets do attach to the Hadley Small Pro. So if you need to add occasional extra space that bag might be a better option for you.
PLEASE NOTE: The internal capacity of the Hadley Small and the Hadley Small Pro is the same - they can carry the same amount of gear. Only with AVEA 7 end pockets can the Hadley Small Pro carry more.
