Eventer MKII Padded Insert and Divider Set (Olive) Includes laptop slip compartment sewn into the back of the insert, 2x Large Vertical Dividers and 2x Small (flap) Dividers
Eventer MKII Front Straps (Black Leather) Pair
The Eventer MKII includes a removable, padded insert. This is made from dense, fabric covered 'closed cell' foam and provides impact protection on the front, back, base and sides. Like the bag itself, the insert is a little flexible.
Also included are two vertical, padded dividers and two small 'flap' dividers. You can use the vertical dividers to split the bag into columns and the flap dividers to stack gear within those columns. The exact arrangement that is possible for you will depend on the size of your gear.
As the insert is removable, you can convert the bag to a casual messenger bag in seconds.
The top-grain leather covering the external base on all sides helps to increase longevity of the bag, as well as creating a luxurious look and feel.
Across the back of the bag is a handy extra storage pocket to easily access important documents without needing to open the main compartment. The pocket has a weatherproof zip, to help keep the contents safe and dry.
Also on the back of the bag is a luggage trolley retainer strap - a simple, easy feature that helps you to secure your bag to your suitcase when travelling through busy cities or airports.
Sewn into the back of the removable insert is a dedicated padded laptop slip, designed to fit up to a 14" laptop.
Please be aware:
• If you remove the padded insert, you will also be removing the laptop slip.
• Older, larger 14" inch devices may not fit, however almost all modern devices such as the 14" MacBook Pro (2021), 13.5" Surface Laptop 3, 13.5" Surface Laptop 4, ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 10 (14") etc will fit.
• Almost all 13" devices fit too.
If you are in doubt, please contact us.
The main compartment has a dual, weatherproof zip, ensuring protection for the contents of the bag even when the main flap isn't over the bag.
The dual zips allow you to access only part of the bag if you don't want to open all of the main compartment.
The zips to the main compartment can be tucked behind either side of the padded insert, allowing you to easily dip in and out of your bag without risking scratching or damaging your equipment.
Quickly and easily open and close your bag using the quick release front straps by simply pushing the front straps up and off the clogballs.
Many of our bags use this opening mechanism on the flap to access their main compartment, the Eventer MKII is the only bag that we currently sell that uses this functionality on the front pockets too.
Once the leather softens, you should be able to open the QRS straps one-handed and whilst wearing the bag.
The buckles allow you to fine tune the 'fit' of the front pockets. You do not need to use the buckles to open the bag.
An easy carry top handle is reinforced with fiberglass and has leather on the underside to provide extra comfort when carrying the bag using just the top handle.
The fiberglass reinforcement helps prevent the fabric of the bag bunching when you pick it up by its top handle.
The generously sized front dump pockets are perfect for cables, film, spare batteries and those little bits and bobs you want to keep separate, whilst also providing great extra storage space.
Strong leather side patches are sewn flat to the bag, this helps the shoulder sling to bear the weight of the bag. An 'X' pattern is sewn for additional reinforcement.
Please be aware that you cannot attach end pockets to this bag because the side patches are sewn flat.
There are only two differences between the Mini Eventer and Eventer MKII:
The Eventer MKII is made from a choice of Canvas or FibreNyte materials that are bonded to a polyester lining with a layer of butyl rubber, known as the 'Stormblock'. This butyl layer is the reason why you will never need to re-proof your Billingham bag, the 'Stormblock' layer will keep your bag water-resistant for its lifetime.
An additional, invisible mildly hydrophobic coating on the surface of the fabric helps to reduce stains and maintain the aesthetics of the bag. Whilst the effectiveness of this coating reduces over time, the water-resistance of the butyl Stormblock layer will not.
The top flap is made of the same three-layer waterproof fabric as the rest of the bag. It helps to prevent rain or snow getting into the main compartment and provides extra protection to accompany that provided by the weatherproof zips.

Can this bag fit a 15 or 16 inch laptop?
Unfortunately, 15” and 16” laptops don’t fit in the padded laptop slip compartment. The maximum it will hold is a 14” laptop.
If you take the padded compartment out, a 15” or 16” MacBook may fit, but you probably won’t have space for a laptop sleeve. For this reason, we do not recommend putting a 15” or 16” laptop in the bag like this, as your device will have very minimal protection and will create points of high friction to the bag that could cause wear. Wear is not covered under five-year manufacturers guarantee.
The previous Eventer was advertised as having space for a laptop with a 13” screen. The Eventer MKII is advertised as having space for a laptop with a 14” screen. Is the Eventer MKII larger?
No, both bags are the same size. Over the years laptops have become smaller relative to their screen size, for example the 2021 14” MacBook Pro is almost identical in size to the 2012 13” MacBook Pro. Therefore, we now feel confident describing the bag to be capable of holding a 14” laptop – older 14” laptops or workstation-class machines (for CAD work etc) might be slightly too big so discretion is advised. If in doubt please contact us with the dimensions of your device.
What is the difference between the previous Eventer and the Eventer MKII?
The Eventer MKII has:
Do the buckles make the bag slow to get into?
You do not need to use the buckles every time you open the bag. The buckles are designed for occasional fine tuning only, to allow for a tighter or looser fit on the main compartment.
To get into the bag, simply use the quick release system front straps. Slide the straps up and off the brass clogballs to open the bag.
Can the zips be tucked out of the way when I’m using the bag so I can get items in and out more quickly?
Yes! The Eventer MKII and the Mini Eventer have the ‘TukTop’ design, which allows the material on either side of the main zip to tuck behind the padded insert. This eliminates the danger of scratching any camera gear when dipping in and out of the bag.
Does this bag need re-proofing to keep it waterproof?
No, you will never need to re-proof our bags. Both our ‘Canvas’ and ‘FibreNyte’ materials are made up of three layers; the middle layer being a rubber butyl layer that should outlive the bag. This rubber butyl layer makes the bag waterproof.
What is the difference between ‘Canvas’ and ‘FibreNyte’?
In simple terms ‘Canvas’ or ‘FibreNyte’ refers to top layer of fabric on our bags – the facecloth.
‘Canvas’ is a mix of cotton and polyester. ‘FibreNyte’ refers to our face fabric that is completely synthetic. Canvas is hard wearing, FibreNyte is very hard wearing.
Both fabrics are bonded to a non-wicking polyester backing fabric with a middle layer butyl rubber – this rubber layer makes both fabrics equally (and very) waterproof. Water can’t get through that rubber layer.
Both fabrics have a similar weave - the FibreNyte looks similar to canvas. Canvas is slightly softer to the touch, FibreNyte is slightly rougher to the touch.
People tend to choose Canvas if they want the bag to age gracefully and look vintage over time. This is particularly true of people who choose our ‘Khaki Canvas’ fabric as this looks particularly lovely as it ages.
People tend to choose FibreNyte if they want the bag to look newer for longer or if they are particularly hard on their gear - for example by carrying the bag to work with them every day, doing a lot of hiking or filling it particularly full. If you are buying a black bag it’s particularly worth considering FibreNyte as it will stay looking blacker longer. Also Sage FibreNyte is particularly attractive as a colour – it’s probably the most popular colour among our staff!
Which shoulder pad fits this bag?
The 'SP50 Shoulder Pad' fits this bag - it is already included in the price of the bag so you only need to buy it if you have lost or damaged yours.
The 'SP20 Shoulder Pad' can also fit if needed but isn't included (Tan or Black Leather only).
Does this bag have a removable padded insert?
Yes! There are four press studs inside the bag that the insert easily attaches/detaches to. The removable, padded insert is included when you purchase this bag.
How does the insert attach inside the bag?
The insert attaches/detaches easily to four press studs inside the bag.
Can end pockets be attached to this bag?
The side patches on the ‘Eventer MKII’ are sewn flat to the bag to help bear the weight of the bag and support the shoulder sling. Therefore, no end pockets can be attached.
